Marcus Miller’s journey from the US Navy to the offshore industry is a testament to Team Trident’s commitment to successfully placing veterans in meaningful careers in the commercial sector. After enlisting in the Navy in 2012, Marcus served as a Boatswain’s Mate (BM) aboard the USS New Orleans (LPD-18). His service included deployments to the Asia Pacific and Persian Gulf, where he demonstrated exceptional dedication, earning three Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, and one Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal.

In 2017, Marcus transitioned to the Naval Reserves, where he continued to serve until 2020, reaching the rank of Boatswain’s Mate First Class (BM1/E-6). As he looked to transition to civilian life, Team Trident recognized his skills and experience, successfully recruiting him onto their team and working for their clients in the offshore sector of the Gulf of Mexico as a Rigger.

Marcus’s seamless transition from military service to the oil and gas industry highlights Team Trident’s expertise in aligning veterans with job opportunities that match their unique backgrounds. Marcus quickly advanced to Deck Foreman, working on various MPSVs, including the Harvey Subsea, Harvey Intervention, Island Venture and Island Victory. The move to subsea construction allowed him to leverage his Navy experience and provided him with a rewarding career that avoids the confines of a traditional office job.

“I enjoyed joining a team founded by veterans who like to hire veterans and place them in positions that fit so well with what we did in the military. I like the oil & gas industry and the type of work we do in subsea construction plus the flexibility it affords me when I am not working,” said Marcus.

Team Trident’s ability to place Marcus in a role that capitalizes on his military training while offering him a fulfilling career in the offshore industry highlights our dedication to supporting veterans that have honorably served out great nation.
