What is the Typical Rotation Like Offshore?

There isn’t a fixed rotation. Typically, the average time spent at home is around 28 days, and offshore assignments also average around 28 days. Assignments, known as hitches, can vary from 10 to 35 days. Before going offshore, you’ll receive a contractor form detailing the anticipated duration.

Can I Work as a Part-time Trainee While in School?

This depends on the program and the number of credits you take. We don’t recommend it unless your coursework is entirely online and you’re taking a maximum of 2-3 classes at a time.

Is Insurance Provided and What are the Benefits?

Initially, ROV Pilot Technician trainees and Riggers begin as 1099 contractors, so no additional medical, dental, or vision coverage exists. After completing their trainee year, ROV technicians transition to W-2 employment with their designated client, becoming eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.

I’m Currently in the Reserves.  Is there a way I can still do this role while having mandatory weekends or weeks?

Absolutely. We accommodate many reservists. Just inform our Operations team of the weekends or weeks you need to be blocked off, and they’ll ensure you’re home for those mandatory commitments.

What are the Living Conditions Offshore?

Offshore work involves 12-hour shifts. Vessels offer various amenities during your downtime, including a galley with 24-hour food service, a gym, internet access, movie rooms, and stewards who handle laundry and cabin tidying. Accommodation typically involves sharing a room with another person on the opposite shift.

FLEXIBILITY

Can I have less time at home? Can I shorten the time between hitches?

In principle, yes, you can inform the operations team of your availability, potentially shortening the time between hitches by a week or two. However, this depends on industry demand. If there’s work available and you’re ready, you can head out as soon as possible..
